Alternative Provision
Little Acorns offers a nurturing, outdoor-based alternative provision for children from Reception to Year 6, with or without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). It is designed to support children alongside their main school provision, providing a calm, engaging environment where they can thrive.
Set within 2.5 acres of land in Wickham, Little Acorns includes woodland areas, a yurt and cabin, stables, resident animals and growing spaces. Children take part in meaningful, hands-on experiences such as caring for animals, exploring nature, growing fruit and vegetables, den building, bush craft and team-based activities.
This provision is particularly well suited to children who:
-
Thrive in outdoor environments
-
Benefit from a practical, experiential approach to learning
-
Need support with confidence, engagement or emotional wellbeing
-
Learn best through movement, exploration and real-life experiences
Time at Little Acorns supports children to build confidence, resilience and positive relationships, helping them to re-engage with learning in a way that feels safe and purposeful. The experienced Growing Places team take time to really get to know each child, adapting support to meet individual needs and strengths.
Little Acorns works closely with schools and families to ensure that provision complements each child’s main education, supporting successful participation both at Little Acorns and back in the classroom.
